Montana Magic: Unforgettable Family Fun in Bozeman

Montana is renowned for its vast wilderness and stunning landscapes, but sometimes, even those of us who call this place home crave a taste of city life. That’s where Bozeman comes in – a town brimming with charm and history. Here, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to shopping and dining, catering to all tastes and styles. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic burger joint, an upscale dining experience, or simply unwinding with an ice cream cone, Bozeman has you covered.

Our shopping scene is a treasure trove, featuring a diverse array of outdoor retailers, boutique clothing stores, cozy bookshops, and more. As someone who once called Bozeman home, here are a few of our personal favorite activities to enjoy in and around our beloved town when you need to add a little city to your day.

Montana Grizzly Encounter

The Montana Grizzly Encounter is a grizzly bear rescue and education sanctuary in Bozeman, Montana. Founded in 2004, MGE provides a spacious and natural home for rescued grizzlies. They offer the public a place to come and learn about grizzly bears as they watch the majestic animals “up close” in a beautiful mountain setting. This was one of the neatest things we did while we were in Montana. We learned so much from the staff and watching Brutus and Bella was a real joy. To know what they came from and to now see them flourishing warms the heart. Bella is quite the ham too when it comes to pictures. She put on quite a show for us playing and swimming.

Museum of the Rockies

Museum of the Rockies is located close to downtown. Originally affiliated with Montana State University in Bozeman, and now, also, the Smithsonian Institution.  The museum is known for its paleontological collections, although these are not its sole focus. The Museum of the Rockies houses the largest collection of dinosaur remains in the United States, possessing the largest Tyrannosaurus skull ever discovered. This place will be a huge hit with the kids and maybe preteens. We enjoyed it, but I am glad we went on a rainy day and didn’t plan our entire day around the museum. It took us about 1.5 hours to see the museum and watch the movie.

Bogert Park

Enjoy a day outdoors with your family at Bogert Park, featuring playgrounds, a splash pad, and picnic areas.

East Gallatin Recreation Area

Montana Science Center
