Elevate Your Travels: The Top 12 Must-Have Travel Apps of 2023

With technology evolving the way it has, planning a trip has become so much easier and not just from a computer, but from the palm of your hand. Whether you are riding or flying, there is an app for you! I have put together a list of 12 of my favorite travel apps to use when either planning a trip, or while I am on a trip.

  1. Hopper – If you don’t have this app, you must download it now! It color codes the days of the month according to the price bracket of the tickets. For example, I wanted to fly to LA to visit my aunt in February. I clicked on two “green” dates which meant my ticket, round trip, would be around $300, and it was! I found a ticket round trip for $319! That is amazing!
  2. Roadtrippers – You know this is one of my favorite apps since I love being in the car! With Roadtrippers, you put in your route, whether it is cross-country or a weekend trip, and it gives you all the coolest stops along the way! My favorite part is that friends can add recommendations with you and you can share places you visited with your friends! So fun!
  3. iExit – we LOVE this app! It helps you plan stops along the way for any road trip. Based on your location, iExit displays upcoming exits and what is available on upcoming exits. Running out of gas? Check iExit. Getting hungry? Check iExit! Who can trust the exit signs anymore? Sometimes you get off an exit expecting one thing and get another. Download iExit to save yourself the trouble.
  4. Gas Buddy – This app can really be a lifesaver for any day. It gives you the lowest gas prices within a certain distance from your location. It can also assist in cutting a gas expense for a long trip. Since we travel cross-country often, it has saved us so much money when we put in our route and Gas Buddy tells us where to stop and when!
  5. Google Trips – This app helps keep a trip organized, suggests things to do nearby, and bundles all of your reservations into one place. Let’s face it, keeping up with all the car rental, flight, and hotel confirmations can be quite stressful. This feature alone makes the app worth the download.
  6. Travelocity – While this one is well-known, I still love it because of this feature of booking an entire trip through one place. You can book a flight, hotel, and car rental all through Travelocity. This simplifies the trip and keeps all your confirmations in one place.
  7. Airbnb – I couldn’t forget one of the best apps to book a stay! Airbnb has wonderful features, one being that it is international! You get a homey feel no matter what country you are in. One perk that I love about Airbnb is that some of the hosts allow a discount for longer stays. This is a great feature if you plan on staying somewhere more than a week.
  8. Yelp – Yelp isn’t particularly a travel app, but it can be of great assistance when on any trip. There are recommendations by locals on the best restaurants and businesses. Pick a night while you are on your trip and check the best restaurant to eat according to Yelp! You never know what new food you could fall in love with.
  9. Waze – Waze is one of my favorite GPS apps. Not only are accidents, cops, and road hazards reported by other drivers, but who doesn’t like being told directions by Morgan Freeman? Yes, those are crickets you hear.
  10. Google Photos – Also not just a travel app here, but no one likes getting the “storage is full” notification when trying to take a picture on vacation. Download Google Photos for your next trip so you never run out of space on your phone.

Hopefully some of these travel apps can help you on your next trip. Vacations are meant to relax so do yourself a favor and make it that much easier on yourself and Bon Voyage!
