Here Are 11 Expert Tips To Make Your Holiday Guests Feel Special!
Being from the South, a strong sense of hospitality courses through my veins, and I’m constantly seeking ways to make my holiday guests feel truly cherished when they come to visit. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of uncomplicated gestures to assist you in making any guest in your home feel exceptional. Whether you choose to implement a few or all of them, these ideas will add a warm touch when hosting your family or friends!
Guest Cart
I usually fill my guest “cart” with hygiene necessities. This can include toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo & conditioner, shower gel, extra towels, snacks, make-up remover wipes, mouthwash, razors, floss, or anything else your guest may have accidentally left at home. Get creative! Only you know your family and what they might like. I love the 20-piece Necessities Travel Kit for starters from Amazon.
Clean Sheets
I think it is safe to say clean sheets are a guilty pleasure for most. Always be sure to change the sheets so they smell fresh when your guests turn in for the night. Depending on how long they stay, you may want to have extra on hand and do a mid-stay change. These Mellanni Bed Sheets are affordable and so comfy!
Tour Guide
Include a list of local activities that your guests can go and enjoy. Nearby restaurants, holiday markets, shopping areas, skiing, or other outdoor activities if near your area will all work. Put everything in a cute folder or binder that you can reuse later. Leave it in their room or have one in a central location that anyone can use.
Wi-Fi Password
Having the Wi-Fi password ready for your guests will eliminate them having to ask for it. While we all need to unplug for the holidays, sometimes that is not possible with work schedules. I love having a Wi-Fi board in my guest room that can be updated if the password ever changes.
Extra Phone Charger
How many times have you forgotten your phone charger? I know it would be easier to count how many times I remembered mine! Always keep a few extra chargers on hand in case someone forgot theirs. It will be much appreciated!
Candy
Leave a little sweetness in every guest room. A small bowl of holiday goodies is a nice touch. I love leaving a small bowl of peppermints to get everyone into the holiday spirit! Just make sure it is out of reach of little hands or pets.
Spare Keys
If your guest will be in and out during their visit, this is a great touch and eliminate them from being locked out of the house at some point.
Food
Stock the fridge with easy go-to snacks, drinks, & water. Have kid-friendly snacks already in snack-size portions. Don’t just buy junk food. While it is the holidays, no one feels great after filling up on junk food, try to get healthier snacks, granola bars, yogurt, fresh fruit, mixed nuts, or trail mix!
Coffee
This is usually a must in most households. Find out if your guests drink coffee and what kind they like. If you have a Keurig this is an easy option to buy the coffee pods they like or even a variety. If they like tea, grab a box or two for those guests as well, and maybe even some hot cocoa for the kids. I had an Aunt that put an extra Keurig upstairs just for her guest. She didn’t want them having to come downstairs in the morning just for coffee. It was a wonderful and thoughtful touch.
Kids Activities
Don’t forget the kids! Make sure you have something for them to do. Crafts, movies, games, puzzles, coloring books, or toys. Most parents bring a few items but having these things already on hand will leave you with your sanity in the end.
Fresh Smells
Make your home sparkle and shine. This is a good time to shampoo those carpets. You will not only have great-looking floors, but your home will smell cleaner. Carpets tend to trap smells of the house and this will freshen it up that much more. If you have hardwoods throughout, a good steam clean is also a must. Use citrus-based cleaners and plug-ins if you have them. See
So remember, a little effort goes a long way when it comes to making someone feel right at home. The only problem with these ideas is that once your guests are treated so wonderfully………they may never leave!
