Maximize Your Adventure: One-Day Marvel at the Grand Canyon

We decided to get up early and get on our way to the Grand Canyon National Park. One thing I need to point out, we take a cooler everywhere we go. You would be shocked at how fast you can spend money on water and snacks when traveling to National Parks. We also packed food to make our lunches.

The Grand Canyon is only about an hour north of Flagstaff, AZ. This was not our first trip here, but it was my sister’s and her boyfriends so I wanted to spend as much time seeing the Canyon as we could. I was excited to see their expressions when we walked up to the canyon.

The fee for a car load is $25 to enter the park. This gives you up to 7 days access to the park. If you plan on staying long or you are visiting multiple National Parks, save yourself some money and purchase an Annual Pass. Depending on which pass best suits your family, this can save you a lot of money!

When we walked up, my companions’ faces said it all….AWE complete and total AWE. There is really no way to describe the vastness that is the Grand Canyon. It almost doesn’t look real. I don’t believe it’s something I could ever get use to. I don’t know that I would ever tire of staring into the wide open space. You truly feel like a small fragment in this great big world.  You can sit and look for hours and never really see all there is.

We hit every vantage point we could in the 5 hours we were there. Each pull off and overlook offered another chance to see more. There are always a lot of people, but we came with a small crowd which makes everything more pleasant. There was very little traffic and plenty of photo opportunities.

The desert view is one of my favorites. Watching the mighty Colorado River cut through the canyon is breathtaking, you can see it winding in the distance and the rapids of blue water are amazing. It is a bucket list for me to raft down the river and see the canyon from a whole new perspective. My advice is take your time when exploring the edge of the canyon. If you are able to hike down the canyon, do it! We were not able to do it this time because we were not prepared with proper gear, but the next time we go, we will be hiking!!

Don’t forget your Annual Pass HERE!
